Chronic kidney disease stage 3a (kidney disease stage 3a) generally corresponds to an eGFR of 45–59 when the reduced kidney function is persistent. This stage is different from simply having one eGFR result in that range during an acute illness or temporary change.
What does stage 3a mean?
It indicates a moderate reduction in estimated kidney filtration. Clinicians also consider urine ACR, the cause of CKD, blood pressure, diabetes, medications and other health factors.
Monitoring
Regular blood and urine tests can help track kidney function and identify changes. Your clinician may also review cardiovascular risk and medicines.
Diet
There is no single stage-3 diet suitable for everyone. Sodium, protein, potassium, phosphate and fluid recommendations depend on laboratory results and individual circumstances.
