CKD Stage 3b: Understanding eGFR 30–44

CKD stage 3b generally corresponds to an eGFR of 30–44 when the reduction is persistent. At this stage, regular clinical monitoring becomes particularly important.

What might be reviewed?

Healthcare professionals may review kidney function, urine ACR, blood pressure, diabetes control, medication safety, cardiovascular risk and complications associated with reduced kidney function.

Symptoms

Some people with stage 3b CKD have few symptoms. Others may notice tiredness, swelling or changes in appetite or urination. Symptoms alone cannot determine kidney stage.

Food and supplements

Diet should be individualised. Avoid starting a strict potassium, phosphate or protein restriction without appropriate advice.

Herbal supplements also deserve careful review because reduced kidney function can change the body's handling of substances.

Nisarg Ayurveda can provide complementary educational consultation, but people with stage 3b CKD should maintain appropriate medical follow-up.
